Artist Talk at University of Brighton
I was given the opportunity to visit the BA Printmaking students at Brighton University to give a talk about my practice and meet some of the students for tutorials afterwards. I spoke to about 15 students in total, mainly 2nd year cohort, as the 3rd years were in the midst of preparing for their final show. I really enjoy talking to people in this context, and it made me realise that I miss teaching. Talking to students for individual and group tutorials was a great experience, and I gained good feedback afterwards. Teaching at a University level would be a dream career for me, and my experience at Brighton really confirmed this.

Exhibitions which have inspired my Practice
Bettina Von Zwehl: The Flood. Exhibition at Ashmolean Museum.

I discovered Von Zwehl's work at her artist-in residence exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and was inspired by her use of the photographic print and objects responding to the museum's collection.

Sula Bermudez-Silverman

Her sculptural objects are often made from cast glass, a technique I will be trialling as I go into Unit 3.

Salvador Dali: Uproar of the Glorious Corps. Exhibition at Eames Print Gallery
This was an exhibition of 100 original 'wood' engravings by Salvador Dali. What amazing me was that these watercolour-looking images are actually 34 block engravings, made not from wood but a resin-based material called 'resingrave'. I create Japanese woodcuts from 5 or 6 layers, and similarly build out a composition with incremental colour changes.
